Do you believe in hypnotism?

Get this surefire method for ending smoking once and for all easily Ending Smoking now. Thank-You for visiting!

why or why not?
and if you do, to what extent? (like you believe in it helping you eat less or quit smoking, but not in it getting you to make animal noises?)

thanks! :]

I’ve done it as a hobby, helping people go under online and off, for some time now.

Thing is, I’m also aware of how low-percentage it is. There’s eight different *major*, general ways to put someone under…and if the other person is dead-set against it, or doesn’t understand what’s going on, nothing will work. Trance won’t take.

And honestly, some people are better at going under than others: it’s easier for some folks to consent to having their attention manipluated. That’s always been the thing with me–I rather stink at going under and going into trance myself, but I’m fairly good at putting other people under, should they want it. Maybe I just see this stuff coming and always end up questioning it. Maybe I just don’t like suspending my own disbelief and skepticism more than necessary.

Point is: Even when the stuff works, any *single* given method of entrancing someone only works, at best, 25-35% of the time. Even when you throw four or five different things at someone at once, at *best* that percentage only goes up to 50%, up to a coin toss. Meaning you get a 50-50 shot.

And that all drops to zero if the other person *doesn’t want* to go under, or is having a bad day and can’t concentrate enough to go under.

So yeah, I know it happens, know it’s real enough….but a *Lot* of it depends on the other person. You can’t *force* a person to go under, it won’t work. All a hypnotist can fairly and ethically do is make suggestions and *hope* the other person *lets them* put them under.

I know, it’s kinda lame and sucks, doesn’t it? There’s no Jedi Mind Trick. o_o
