I’m 16.
I’ve been taking my birth control pills since the beginning of May & I’ve stopped taking them in the beginning of June.
How long do I have to stop taking the pills to smoke (ciggs) without them having an effect on my health?
If I get back on birth control in July will it have any effect on me?

……What?
You’re going to give up birth control… so you can smoke? Have you even been on for a full month?
I try to be nice, but I’m sorry, I have to say this…. smoking cigarettes will always, ALWAYS have a bad effect on your health… dumbass.
Oh not to mention it’s illegal at your age.
"The nicotine in cigarettes increases blood clotting, blood pressure and heart rate, damages cells that line coronary arteries and decreases oxygen to the heart, all of which directly increase the risk of heart disease, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Women who use birth control pills are two to three times more likely to have high blood pressure than women who do not. However, the risk of heart disease and stroke from birth control pills alone is very low, according to the Cardiovascular Research Foundation."
I know that doesn’t answer your question, but I think it will help you a lot more than knowing the answer you asked.

Don’t smoke. I used to take birth control while smoking and it didn’t harm me, but you still shouldn’t do it.
It’s less harmful if you take the birth control pills. You’ll regret it if you get pregnant, then what will you do? Get an abortion so you can smoke again?
You shouldn’t be messing around with your hormones like that, either. Either take the pills or don’t.

Birth control = good
cigs = gross.
Cigarettes kill your lungs you should quit. They’re pretty bad tasting too, haha I know that from experience. I think it will have an effect on you.

If you have managed to get off tobacco, why would you ever want to go back?
At your age, the damage you may already have done is reversible.
Keep smoking, and besides the risk to your heart (with or without birth control pills) you will also increase your risk for emphysema.
This is not a scare tactic.
My uncle smoked all his life, and ended it by having to carry an oxygen tank everywhere.
He died a painful death, long before he had to!
If you are sexually active, wouldn’t you like to keep your looks? Smoking will age your skin, connective tissue and your teeth.
You’ll look like you are 40 when you are 30.
Nice.
If you ever do intend to have a baby, you’d want to break that addiction (yes, it is an addiction) before you get pregnant. Smoking will affect the size of your baby, as well as brain development, as the smoke will deprive your baby of oxygen in the womb.
Oh, yes–did you know cigarettes contain formaldehyde?
Do you know what that is?
It is what is used to embalm dead bodies.
So, with every puff, you are not only killing yourself, but embalming yourself while you are alive.
We didn’t even mention cancer.
If you are 16 and think smoking is a good idea, PLEASE DO use birth control of SOME kind, so you do not pollute the gene pool with your stupidity.

Well I am definately not going to put you down for smoking. I started smoking when I was 16 an took BC while I was smoking. I never had any issues or bad side effects. Although all people are different but I am going to tell you I dont recommend you stopping BC. Try the IUC or IUD. They dont have hardly any side effects.Good Luck with all of it.

You can start again right away, BUT Why in the world would you want to start smoking again?
I’m a smoker and I smell bad all the time, my clothes stink, my hair stinks, my breath is so bad I always have to make sure I have gum or breath mints. My teeth are stained, people stare at me, it is one of the biggest regrets in my life.
I always have to make sure I have money for cigarettes so I don’t run out, I have wasted so much money I could have bought a new car by now. And I have a horrible cough that I am worried about.
