first of all quiting smoking is essential

Cigarette contains 4,000 deadly chemicals that are fatal for your health. When you smoke cigarette you inhale all these toxic substances; especially, nicotine and carbon monoxide. The carbon monoxide gas which is carried through in your blood seizes the red blood cells. The cells are prevented from carrying and delivering the adequate amounts of oxygen to all parts of your body including your hair. Because your hair do not get enough nutrients and fresh oxygen from the blood stream they become unhealthy. Due to malnourishment the top layers of your hair become brittle and subsequently they fall off.

Q. How can I have longer hair??

A. Well, having longer hair really consists of two things. The first is maximizing/promoting growth and the second is retaining length. Here are the absolute basics to growing longer stronger hair.

To maximize or promote growth, I would suggest:

1) Eat a protein rich diet and lots of fruits and veggies to ensure you are growing strong healthy hair.

2) Keep your body healthy and hydrated by drinking at least 64 oz of water a day and exercising at least 3-5 times a week.

3) Massage the scalp at night with a drop or two of essential oils to help stimulate the hair follicles. Make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

4) Take a Hair, Skin and Nails vitamin to help supplement your diet. These vitamins are available at your local drugstore or health food store.

To retain length, I would suggest:

1) Wash and deep condition at least once a week to remove the accumulation of sebum from the scalp and hair.

2) Reduce direct heat (such as blow drying, flat ironing and hot curling). Instead, dry the hair using a low to no heat styling method (such as air drying in buns, braids or twists, roller-setting or flexi-rodding) to help reduce stress to the hair.

3) Make sure to moisturize nightly with a water based moisturizer like ORS Olive oil to help keep the ends lubricated. Trim as needed.

4) Keep the hair and ends protected during the day with loose styles like buns, twists, french rolls and twists.

The basic idea is to make sure that your body is healthy so that you are growing strong hair. After that, its just a matter of keeping it! This is why we want to reduce heat, keep the hair hydrated and protect the ends. This will help reduce unnecessary breakage and split ends, which can allow you to trim less often and retain length.

when you get it trimmed ask them to just take off 1/4 inch. Your hair grows on average 1/2inch per month so if you get your hair cut every 8 weeks that’s 3/4 inch it will grow every 2 months.

I’m sure that a well-balanced diet can help to promote healthy hair growth. Smoking/nicotine may certainly slow hair growth as it can hinder the ability of the oxygen to fully circulate around the system. If concerned about one’s hair not growing at the average pace (typically 1/4" to 1/2 " a month), please do talk with one’s family doctor about it. He or she can order some routine blood tests to rule out anemia/iron deficiency. Please do not self-diagnose and please don’t start taking iron supplements until knowing if need be since too much iron can cause damage to the liver.

Nicotine Anonymous is a free 12-step support group for those wanting to stop smoking cigarettes. If interested: http://www.nicotine-anonymous.org

The local hospital may also offer a smoking cessation program. Some are partially or fully covered by one’s health insurance.

I have really long hair and on occasion people ask me how i manage to grow this long. I guess quit smoking, rich protein and vitamin intake will definitely accelerate hair growth, but i think it does have to do with hormones. I don’t even spend a min in front of the mirror to get my hair done and it grows long and strong. It’s been about 2 years ever since I started to take the prescribed contraceptive, which controls your hormone imbalance and has many subsequent pleasant benefits besides hair growth on your head such as: smoother/brighter skin and nails, acne reducer, regular menstruation, better concentration span, etc. The first thing I ever noticed after taking the pills was smoother and longer hair.

The contraceptive is called ‘Diane 35′ and I’ve seen so many people who have been on this product. Maybe you could discuss over this with your doctor if you wanna give it a go. I’m suggesting it to you from my pure experience so i thought i’d share it with you. hope this’ll help
